Help Protect Your Access to Dermatology Care

by Shelbi | Aug 9, 2026 | Dermatologist in Honolulu, Insurance, Medicare, Patient Rights, Skincare in Honolulu

Medicare patients deserve timely access to the dermatologic care they need. A proposed federal rule could make it more difficult for dermatologists to perform certain procedures during the same visit as an evaluation, potentially leading to additional appointments, longer wait times, more travel, and higher out-of-pocket costs for patients.

For patients with suspicious skin lesions or possible skin cancer, timely evaluation and treatment can be especially important. Additional appointments and delays could make an already stressful experience more difficult.

We encourage our Medicare patients to learn more about the proposal and make their voices heard. Your voice can make a difference. The American Academy of Dermatology is providing resources to help patients contact Congress and advocate for continued access to timely, high-quality dermatology care.
